BALTO (Bring A Light To Others) was created in 1994 as an Edmond North student fund-raiser. Last year the students of Edmond North raised money for the Oklahoma Brain Tumor
Foundation, and 5% of the donations went to Diana Caporale, a Santa Fe alumni who needed a transplant because of Auto-Immune Hepititis, as Edmond's Common Thread
organization. We raised over $193,000! In the past, BALTO has been a very successful fund-raiser helping many people in need throughout Oklahoma. BALTO is an amazing
way for the student body, faculty, local businesses, and the community to make a positive impact on somebody's life. The majority of the contributions are raised by
BALTO candidates who contact friends, relatives, and other residents in our community.
This year, BALTO is the week of February 22nd-26th. This year's recipient is Victory Junction Camp. This camp in North Carolina that accommodates children who
have physical and mental conditions that prohibit them from attending other summer camps. It is set up so that every child has his or her own counselor and so that
he or she can receive all necessary medications while away from home. In addition, Victory Junction is designed so that each camper can experience activities that he
or she would normally be excluded from because of his or her condition. Also, during the summer, there are disease-specific weeks, in which campers can attend,
ensuring no one feels alone because of his or her ailment. BALTO is going to be working with the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital, as well as other hospitals in the
surrounding areas, to give children from Oklahoma the privilege of a fully paid week at Victory Junction that is sure to be unforgettable. Ninety-five percent of all
contributions go to the Victory Junction Camp and the other 5% goes to the Common Thread.
Every year, all three Edmond high schools join together and contribute to a charity called the Common Thread. The 2010 common thread is the Coffee Creek Riding
Center. The Coffee Creek Riding Center has given free therapeutic riding lessons to numerous students for 34 years. This semester they have 180 students receiving
therapy from this center. All of the funding needed to run the Coffee Creek Riding Center comes strictly from donations.

The goal for BALTO 2010 is $150,000 although we wish to
raise more money than ever. This number can only be reached with your help. Please consider donating any amount you wish for this awesome
cause to grant a child's wish! Any amount of donations will be greatly appreciated and will impact the lives of these children. All donations
are tax deductible. Thank you so much for being an important part of BALTO 2010!
